Welcome to Beach PK – 8 School web page.Tom Breuckman

Beach is a dual immersion and a community based school – which means that some students who attend Beach are in the Dual Immersion program (Spanish/English) while others are in the community (non-immersion) program.  I hope you’ll take a few minutes to explore and learn about Beach School.  We are fortunate to have a very diverse school, with excellent family support and a strong, collaborative teaching staff.  Another strong characteristic of the school is its technology – there are 2 computer labs, computers in every classroom and Smart Boards in most classrooms. We are looking forward to a great school year and invite you to learn more about our school. If you have questions, please contact the school office at 503-916-6236.

Ms. Meyer

I am thrilled to be back at Beach School for my 16th year and first full year in the role of Assistant Principal. It has been a pleasure working with Mr. Tom Breuckman, our new Principal. I have seen a lot of positive changes at Beach since 1994; most notably the strengthening of the dual immersion program, increase in parent involvement and extensive use of technology.

If you are new to the Beach community, or if our paths have not yet crossed, I invite you to come by anytime. My office is in Room 112 on the main floor. I also welcome any questions you may have regarding curriculum, scheduling, testing, assessment, and school history.

Here's to a terrific new school year!

Sincerely,
Kris Meyer
Assistant Principal

Parent Involvement:

We will host parent coffees the first Friday of each month at 9:00 am. Check the weekly newsletters and/or Google Group emails for the monthly topic, speaker and location.

We encourage you to join the Beach School Google Group to receive announcements and reminders for the upcoming school events. If you would like to be added to the Google Group, please send an email to Kris Meyer, Assistant Principal: kmeyer@pps.k12.or.us

Meetings are held at 6:30pm on the 2nd Thursday of each month in the school library. Child care is provided. The PTA is a local, self-governing membership associations whose main purpose is to promote the health, welfare, safety and education of children and youth. Please consider joining the Beach PTA. It is an excellent way to become actively involved in your child's education.

The Beach Site Council is comprised of the school principal, teacher representatives, and parent representatives. Together, this group makes school based decisions. They meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 3:15-5:15pm. Although only Site Council members can formally vote on school initiatives, everyone is welcome to give input and attend these monthly meetings.
